Linked to the teaching-educational process, reading promotion also aims to foster the acquisition of knowledge and a better understanding of content, which will also facilitate study and research. This article aims to analyze how to contribute to the promotion of reading in lower secondary education, thereby improving students' enjoyment of literature and reading comprehension. A mixed approach (qualitative-quantitative) was used, utilizing techniques such as participant observation, documentary analysis, surveys, and interviews. The sample included 33 students and six teachers with experience teaching humanities. The main results revealed the need to encourage reading habits, considering that this is a key educational challenge due to the decline in reading interest during adolescence. It was found that reading motivation at this stage depends on the selection of relevant texts and interactive methodologies. It is proposed that teachers implement a program of reading promotion activities to improve services, bring the library to life for the benefit of the classroom, and foster the development of a culture of reading and writing.
