This essay analyzes the impact of emerging technologies on the Latin American labor market, focusing on the role of Big Data and artificial intelligence as drivers of a new economic value based on intangibles. Using a qualitative methodology of document review and critical analysis, the research examines the capabilities of intelligent systems to optimize services in the face of their limitations in processing ambiguous information. The study reveals a worrying tripolarization of employment and a process of deindustrialization that hinders the region from emulating development models of the Global North. It highlights that the advance of platform capitalism and corporate control through algorithms not only make work more precarious but also invade workers' privacy and health. Finally, it concludes that the region urgently needs to revitalize its regional integration and adapt its legal framework to protect the working class from the asymmetries of cognitive capitalism and automation.
